Below is the open letter from Adilson to the Kizomba community:

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Dear customers and friends,

It is with deep sadness that I am sending this message to announce the CANCELLATION of the first edition of the BECAUSE OF KIZOMBA festival..

The reason for the cancellation is that, over the last few months, we have been facing numerous contractual changes imposed by the hotel management, as they have been receiving regular complaints alleging various risks that the hotel will supposedly face for having agreed to host our event on their premises, claiming that the organiser (Adilson Maíza) is not a Polish resident and intends to encourage drug use and prostitution, and will not meet the payments for services related to the event, which is untrue and not in keeping with Adilson Maíza’s conduct. The hotel management, in turn, began to put pressure on the event organisers by changing some key clauses in the contract, which made our event unfeasible. We have tried to secure the contract through various negotiations but unfortunately have been unsuccessful, resulting in the cancellation of our booking.
At this time, it is not possible to find other hotels available on the same dates, which leaves us with the difficult decision to ‘cancel’ what would have been a major event, for which a large number of paid bookings had already been made.
However, I ask for everyone’s understanding in face of this situation, and I do not wish to end this message without expressing my deepest gratitude to you, my special client, follower, and friend, for believing in this project and agreeing to join us with the purpose of creating memorable moments together for the international community of lovers of the art of good dancing and Angola’s cultural mosaic. We are aware of the inconvenience caused and the costs involved, as is the organising team, but we have no other choice. Please know that cancelling this event is not a sign of weakness, as it takes great strength to let go of something that cost us so much and that we so dearly wished to bring to fruition. We promise to return stronger to make this event a success and to everyone's satisfaction, with dates and venues to be announced for 2027.
Refunds will be issued via the same payment methods in the next few days.
